Frequently Asked Questions

Forecourt Signs are large format poster displays signs typically displaying posters that are A0 or larger.

Forecourt pavement signs are a popular solution for outdoor advertising on the roadside, street, or a forecourt. They are available in a variety of styles and sizes, all with a double-sided advertising board.

Specifically designed for outdoor use, they are weatherproof signs that are usually weighted down by filling the water base with water or sand.

They are ideal for garages, petrol station forecourt, retail businesses and hospitality venues with forecourts or pavement frontages.

Despite their large size, they have been designed with portability in mind. Forecourt signs usually have wheels on the base giving you portable signage that can be easily moved (even when filled with water) and stored overnight.

Our range of forecourt signs are designed specifically for outdoor use using hardwearing, durable and weatherproof materials. However, the posters themselves are not fully waterproof. Each pavement sign is supplied with weatherproof poster covers that protect the printed display from rain and sun rays.

Despite their sturdy construction, we recommend storing your forecourt signs inside overnight or in very inclement weather.

Forecourt Signs are ideal as tactical advertising displays for shops, acting as a signpost communication board for your business. Pavement Signs, A-Frame Signs, Sandwich Boards and Swing Signs are ideal for attracting customers to your business premises.

Pavement advertising boards can be used for shop sign advertising, curbside and sidewalk promotions as well as in car parks, forecourts and front of a business to let passer-by know you are open for business.

All of our forecourt signs have been designed to be suitable for outdoor advertising in forecourts or on pavements. Which sign you decide to purchase depends on your needs and requirements.

The TEMPEST Water Base Pavement Sign A1 is a popular forecourt sign as it is held in stock and can be dispatched within 24 hours (without posters) and 48 hours (with posters). A1 pavement signs are a popular size as it provides a good size display area. The TEMPEST forecourt sign features a water-filled base and wheels to aid transportation.

Our swing pavement signs and flex signs are low-maintenance outdoor displays and once in a position, they swing/flex with the breeze making them one of the most stable advertising boards on the market.

The ZONDA Water Base Pavement Sign is a large format double-sided poster display sign designed to make an impact, large and imposing, it has a poster size of  40" x 60" 1016 x 1524mm. It features a front-opening snap open frame and includes a waterproof 700-micron PET poster cover that protects the posters when in use outside.

All our forecourt products are weatherproof and will withstand moderate weather conditions but should be brought in during storms, high winds or overnight.

At present, there is no UK-wide policy for pavement sign advertising. Guidelines differ between councils and the rules change regularly. Usually, if you are placing an a-frame or other pavement signage on your own land (eg. enclosed area in front of a shop, a restaurant terrace or garage forecourt) you won’t come across any issues. If you plan to place your pavement sign alongside a public highway, you will need to gain permission. We recommend in all cases to check with your local authority about their rules for pavement signs.

Remember, public liability indemnity insurance is essential to cover you in case someone sustains an injury as a result of your pavement sign.

Some things to consider when installing a forecourt sign:

  • Display a sensible size – don’t overdo it for the space that you have available
  • Keep the display in good, clean condition
  • Keep the display maintained to avoid sharp edges & risk to health and safety
  • Do not cause obstructions with the pavement sign. You must leave enough space for foot traffic, wheelchairs, and pushchairs to get by safely
  • Remove the pavement sign in high winds to avoid damage or injury
  • Ensure it is stable on a level surface, so it does not fall over causing injury

Our forecourt signs with printed posters included are available for dispatch within 3-5 days. If you require a pavement sign with faster delivery, our Tempest Water Base Pavement Sign is available with 48h dispatch (with printed posters) and 24h dispatch (without poster printing).

Changing the posters on your forecourt advertising boards is a simple and easy process to complete. Most of our designs feature a simple ‘snap’ frame poster board that allows you to change your promotions in less than a minute.

Simply open the clipable frame on each side of the frame, insert your new poster, cover the printed poster with the protective cover and then close each side of the clip frame to complete.

The entire process takes less than a minute to complete and requires no tools.

Absolutely, yes, forecourt signs are large poster displays signs that are ideal for alerting customers to important information such as social distancing.

Our outdoor pavement signs can be fitted with printed posters displaying social distancing and safety information for your business; whether that’s queue directions, reminders to remain 2m apart and wear face coverings, or to indicate sanitising stations.

Social distancing signage can be placed on roadsides, car-parks, on forecourts, walkways, entry points and trolley stations. Additionally, they can be used in retail parks, shopping centres or on large shop floors.

If you plan to use an outdoor pavement sign on public land, you will need to seek permission from the local council. We recommend contacting your local council authority who will be able to give you up-to-date information on where you can and cannot place a forecourt sign. It is best practice to position on even floors where it can not fall over and cause injury to a member of the public.

When purchasing one of our forecourt signs you can choose whether you wish to buy with or without posters. If you already have promotional posters then we recommend buying the forecourt advertising signs without posters.

If you require any additional posters, you can purchase Custom Laminated Posters at a later date when your marketing message changes.

Yes, we sell a range of large forecourt signs with display poster sizes including A2, A1, A0 and even up to our largest 60"x40" size. Despite the large sizes, forecourt signs remain portable and easy to manoeuvre offering the same portability benefits of smaller advertising boards.
