Over the last 2-3 years Fabric Exhibition Stands have increased in popularity and are recognised as a viable alternative to traditional exhibition stands with vinyl or PVC graphics.
At XL Displays we have recently expanded our range of fabric displays and continue to seek and develop new products to add to our portfolio.
We offer three main types of display stands with fabric graphics:
- Our Formulate Range consists of a printed fabric ‘sock’ which slides over the hardware frame. All of our Formulate products are portable, easy to assemble and can be transported and stored in the carry case provided.
- Hop Up Stands have a concertina aluminium frame which ‘pops up’ and is locked into place (similar to a standard pop up stand). However, unlike a traditional pop up stand, the hop up has a one-piece fabric graphic attached to the edges of the frame. The graphic stays in place even when the frame is collapsed for storage or transport. So you simply need to extend the frame, lock into place and your stand is ready to go.
- The systems we use for many of our Custom Built Exhibition Stands, such as Vector Lite or Linear, are available with fabric graphics. Silicone edged graphics (SEG) have a plastic edging sewn to the border of the printed fabric graphic. This silicone edge is pushed into slots in the hardware frame and once assembled this provides a seamless graphic panel.
Fabric displays have many benefits; here are just a few reasons why you should consider a fabric display stand for your next exhibition:
High Quality Print
You might think that printed fabric will not result in the same quality and sharpness of printed hard exhibition stand media but you would be wrong. With advances in print technology, fabric can be printed in full colour to the same high quality and high resolution.
The tension fabric we use is polyester and is printed using a process called dye sublimation. This process uses heat and pressure to bond water-based ink directly within the textile. The print is actually within the weave of the fabric, not just on the top of it, so it will not rub off, fade, crack or peel. Print is therefore permanent, durable and vibrant. It is also non-reflective so will be clear to see no matter what the lighting is like in an exhibition venue.
Longevity
The initial cost of a fabric display stand may seem a bit higher but in the long term you will see a higher return on investment. Over time, pull up banners and pop up stand with printed media panels can get tatty, especially if they are not looked after properly. However, a fabric graphic will last much longer.
Fabric graphics can be machine washed at 30oC and the print will not run or fade, so even if they get dirty they can be cleaned to keep your exhibition stand looking like new.
Because the print is in the weave of the fabric, the graphic can be folded without creasing or damaging the print. Even if the graphic looks creased after being stored, the elasticity in the fabric means that once it is stretched over the frame the creases will straighten out.
Seamless
Graphics printed on hard media, such as PVC, are usually printed in separate panels which fit together on the hardware frame. So, no matter how good the print match and manufacture, there are joins in the final display stand graphics. Printed fabric graphics are usually a one piece graphic, even for the larger fabric display stands. This means it has no joins so is a seamless backdrop for your exhibition stand and provides the ultimate professional finish.
Simple assembly
All of our portable fabric displays are easy to assemble, with no tools required. The Hop Up stand is the easiest to set up, as the graphic stays fixed to the frame you simply open up the frame, lock into place and the stand is ready to use. All the Formulate products have tubular aluminium frames which are clearly labelled so it is easy to recognise which piece slots into which. Once the frame is put together the one piece fabric ‘sock’ slides over the frame and zips up at the bottom.
Portable
Our fabric exhibition stands, such as hop ups and formulate, all come with carry cases included. All the hardware and fabric graphics fold down to fit into the cases so they are easy to transport and store – ideal for use at multiple trade shows and exhibitions throughout the year. The fabric graphics can simply be folded up for storage so there is no need to worry about ensuring individual printed panels are rolled up and packed away carefully to prevent damage.

Fabric display stands come in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs, from the snake-like Serpentine Formulate Stand to a straight 3x4 Hop Up Stand, a Circular Hanging Display to a Curved Exhibition Arch – there is a fabric stand to suit all stand requirements. We also provide Hanging Fabric Displays which are perfect for getting your brand 360-degree promotion without taking up valuable floor space. Products come with single sided graphics as standard but you can choose to have double sided graphics – a good option if your stand is to be seen from all angles.
