Queue Barriers

Crowd control queue barriers are designed to organise and structure queueing systems at busy exhibitions, museums, tourist attractions, airports and entertainment venues. They can also be used to mark queueing zones for social distancing purposes outside shops and retail spaces.

If your venue is expecting large numbers of people, installing crowd barriers, rope & pole systems or retractable belt barriers can help to manage those numbers and maintain order. As numbers inside venues are likely to be limited or closely managed for some time to come, having queue systems in place at your premises can help keep your visitors, customers and staff as safe as possible.

Queue barriers can be used at exhibitions, museums, tourist attractions, airports and entertainment events, as well as restaurants, cafes, clubs and other hospitality venues. They are designed for use anywhere where crowd management is required. We even sell a specific queue barrier for social distancing, with a black and yellow printed webbing belt.

Crowd queue barriers are available in two different styles: retractable barriers and post and rope systems. Retractable barrier systems are often a popular choice. These consist of a pole and base (or wall-mounted bracket) and retractable belt which can be connected to other retractable barriers to create a bespoke queueing system that suits your needs. Rope and pole barriers offer a more luxurious look, making them ideal for use in restaurants, nightclubs and hotels; directing customer footfall while providing a more upmarket, professional look. 

Our retractable belt barrier posts are equipped with 1 starting belt, and two/three belt receiver notches, meaning you can create a multi-directional queue system.

To connect a retractable belt to the pole or wall bracket, simply slide the plastic end into the receiver notch until it is securely locked in place. Ensure the belt is fastened correctly to prevent the retractable barrier pinging back to its starting point.

A stanchion is an upright bar, post, or frame forming a support or barrier for either a retractable belt barrier system or rope and post queuing system. Stanchions include a post and supporting base. 

All of our retractable belts have a standard belt length of 2m (2000mm). This means for a straight-line queue, you will need a post (or wall bracket) at maximum 2-metre intervals along your queueing system in order to correctly attach the belts. The number of retractable barrier posts you require will depend on the length of your queue. Retractable barriers typically include two/three arrival notches; in addition to the retracting belt so you can form queueing systems that run in different directions from the same post. 

Please note: for snake or zig-zag queues, additional posts or brackets will be required at more regular intervals to form tighter corners.

Yes, we sell two different styles of rope barrier systems: our Standard Queue Rope Barrier and our Exhibition Queue Rope Barrier. 

The Standard Queue Barrier System has a polished chrome pole base that’s 910mm high and is suitable for use with the coordinating black velvet rope, which is 1500mm long and finished with silver clips.

The Exhibition Queue Barrier System is available with either a black or silver post (950mm high) and is suitable for use with the coordinating 1500mm long exhibition barrier rope, which is available in red or black.

Social distancing is a construct developed by the WHO in conjunction with leading virologists and other experts which minimises the impact of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The basic rules of social distancing are:

• Remain 2m apart from others not in your ‘bubble’.
• Wear a mask over your nose and mouth in indoor public spaces (eg. shops).
• Isolate immediately if you develop symptoms or Coronavirus (until you receive a negative test result or for a further 10 days following a positive test result), if you have been in contact with someone who has developed symptoms or received a positive test result, if you have recently returned from travel abroad or if you have been notified by the NHS app that you must self-isolate.
• Businesses should install screens and dividers as barriers between people to limit the spread of the virus.

Social distancing measures are currently in place in most countries throughout the world and is a recommendation of the World Health Organisation (WHO). At time of writing, it is a mandatory requirement for citizens of the UK. Current UK Government guidelines state a minimum 2 metre distance between people who are not isolating together. Social distance measures must be in place for all shops, offices, businesses and public venues in order for them to re-open and be COVID safe. Queue barriers, floor stickers, hand sanitisers and social distancing screens are essential solutions for any business to protect their customers and staff.

Retractable belt queue barriers can be a useful tool for social distancing as they can be deployed when necessary to organise crowds outside venues or retail spaces where numbers inside are limited.

One of the key social distancing measures is to remain 2m apart from others not in your ‘bubble’.
