Social Distancing Screens for Hairdressers
Is your Hair Salon ready to re-open following Coronavirus? It is a challenging time for Hair Dressers, Hair Salons, Nail Bars, Salons and Barbers as at time of writing, (June 2020), the UK Government has not yet issued detailed guidelines of what you need to implement to comply with COVID-19 safety procedures for salons, barbers and mobile hairdressers.
This means your hair salon will have to prepare COVID-19 safety protocols, procedures and have effective Perspex protection screens and social distancing in place, prior to your salon being allowed to re-open for (advisory date) July 4th 2020.
In light of there currently not being official Government guidelines for Hair Salons, a number of Trade Associations and Support Councils for the Hair and Beauty industry have issued their own recommendations and preliminary guidelines:

In addition to the Professional Hairdressing and Salon Owners Trade bodies, a number of companies that supply equipment, products, services, and training to the industry, including Henkel, L’Oréal & Wella have issues guidance and support for Salon owners following coronavirus. Please see their individual websites or suppliers that you work with.
Social Distancing Screens for Hair Salons will play an important part in keeping your staff and customers safe and mitigating the spread of viruses and germs. It will be impossible to complete haircuts, styling sessions, nail, and beauty treatments without physical contact so PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will need to be worn.
This may include, disposable gloves, gowns, facemasks, and visors. PPE will need to be changed between clients and all equipment; scissors, combs, styling equipment, etc. should be disinfected before and after use. Perspex Screens, Sneeze Screens, and other social distancing protection screens will be needed in reception areas, waiting areas, and in-between washbasins and barbers chairs to separate customers and protect staff.
Perspex Screens for Salons can be put into place and can be freestanding partitions, clear counter dividers, or Sneeze Screens for cashier and till pay points. Available with bottom cut out sections, pass-through hatches for safe handling of money or card machines for contactless payments. Our range of suspended ceiling sneeze screens is ideal for busy reception areas.
Freestanding Perspex Screens can be used in larger salons, allowing more barbers chairs, sinks, and styling stations to be used simultaneously, which may allow more hairdressers and stylists to work, increasing customers and grow revenue and profit
Glass and clear plastic materials allow light through and increases visibility, which is less claustrophobic for customers and staff in comparison to traditional wooden or fabric partitions. Transparent screens can maintain the ambiance of your Salon and are easier to clean and wipe down. Clear sneeze screens can be embellished with transfer stickers for branding, logo’s or special offers if required.
XL Displays also offers a large selection of signage, hand sanitiser wash stations, freestanding poster display frames, and noticeboards to communicate your Salons Social Distancing procedures, advertise that you are open and direct customers to reassure them that you are operating a COVID-19 safe business. This may help minimise potential whistleblowers or threats of prosecution.
It is a difficult time for Hairdressing Salons in the UK following COVID-19. Social Distancing Screens and Sneeze Guards can play an important role in a wider strategy of due diligence, safety, and cleaning procedures along with effective Salon management.
