This guide compares portable, pop up, fabric, demonstration and display counters and explains how to choose the right size, construction, storage and graphic finish for your event.

A promotional counter is a branded portable workstation used at exhibitions, trade shows, retail promotions, product launches and reception areas. It creates a natural place for staff to greet visitors while providing a useful worktop for literature, samples or demonstrations.
Most systems combine a reusable structure, worktop and printed graphic. Depending on the model, they may also include internal shelves, a header panel or lockable storage. They are also known as exhibition counters, display counters, demo counters, promo counters or portable reception desks.
Shop Promotional CountersThe right counter improves both the appearance and day-to-day usefulness of a display space.
Create a clear meet-and-greet point for conversations, enquiries and lead capture.
Internal shelves keep literature, bags and everyday stand supplies close at hand.
Coordinate the printed face with a backdrop, banner stand or campaign artwork.
Use a suitable load-bearing worktop for samples, demonstrations or tasting activity.
Common locations include exhibitions, conferences, showrooms, receptions, shopping centres, supermarkets, open days, roadshows and hospitality venues.
Choose the construction around what the counter must do, who will build it and how it will travel.

Decide whether it will welcome visitors, hold literature, support a laptop, display products or host demonstrations.
Allow room behind the counter for staff and around it for visitors without blocking the stand entrance.
Check worktop and shelf limits for screens, samples or equipment rather than judging strength by appearance.
Consider how much must be hidden, the number of shelves and whether staff need rear or lockable access.
Compare packed size, weight, carry cases, assembly method and the number of people required.
Choose replaceable graphics and a neutral worktop where future rebranding or repeated use is likely.
Most portable counters use tool-free assembly, but the sequence varies by construction. Pop up frames expand and lock before shelves, worktop and graphic wrap are fitted. Fabric counters may use a folding frame or connected tubes covered by a tensioned sleeve.
Practise once before the event, keep the instructions with the carry case and never exceed the published load limits.
Design to the correct template. Keep the logo and main message visible on the front, allow for curved edges and avoid placing important text across joins or trim areas.
Graphic construction varies by model. Options include laminated display media, rollable graphic wraps and dye-sublimation printed polyester fabric.
Clean and fully dry every component before packing. Roll rigid graphics where instructed, fold fabric loosely and order replacements for the exact counter model.
